What "Good price" and "Price drop" mean

Good price means at least 8% under the index average for the same year, make and model, with at least four comparable listings. Price drop means we saw a higher price on this exact listing before.

Good price

We average the advertised prices of every active listing with the same model year, make and model. When there are at least four of them and this listing is at least 8% below that average, it gets the badge. Hover it to see the percentage and how many comparables went into the average. It is a comparison within this index, not a valuation: trim, mileage, condition and options all matter and are not part of the average. Treat it as "worth a closer look", not "buy it".

Price drop

Every time we re-read a listing and the price is lower than before, we keep the previous price and show it struck through next to the new one. The listing page shows the drop in dollars. The home page's "Price drops" row collects the biggest drops of the last three days.

Price vs similar

The listing page also shows how this price compares with the average of similar listings, in either direction, whenever there are enough to compare. Same method as the badge, without the threshold.
